My Story

From Bulgaria
to helping dogs
truly thrive.

I grew up watching dogs live long, healthy lives on real food. When I came to America and my dog Nala got sick on kibble, I went back to what I knew. This is that story.

Where It All Began

Growing up in Bulgaria,
dogs just ate real food.

I grew up in Bulgaria, where dogs were simply part of life. We did not have pet food stores on every corner. There was no kibble marketing, no prescription diets, no bags with pretty labels telling you what your dog needed. Our dogs ate what we ate: fresh whole food ingredients straight from the farm, nothing processed.

And here is the thing: our dogs never had health issues. They did not have recurring ear infections, skin problems, digestive issues, or mysterious weight gain. They were vibrant, energetic, and healthy. They lived well past their 20s.

“Nobody talked about dog allergies or chronic symptoms. The dogs just thrived. That was my normal, until I came to America.”

When I arrived in the United States, I was overwhelmed by the options. Premium kibble, grain-free, raw, freeze-dried, prescription diets. The choices were endless and confusing. I did what most people do: I followed my conventional vet’s advice and put Nala on processed kibble.

The Turning Point

Nala got sick.
And nobody had answers.

Nala before raw diet

It was not long before Nala started showing signs that something was seriously wrong. Around age 3, she developed recurring ear infections, constant skin irritation, weight gain, behavior issues, and daily GI upset. I took her to vet after vet. I spent thousands of dollars. The answer was always the same: try a different kibble formula, here are some antibiotics.

Nothing worked. And I could not understand why. I was doing everything right. I was buying premium food. I was following professional advice. Why was my dog still suffering?

One day I stumbled upon the documentary “Pet Fooled” and everything changed. I was horrified. The methods used to process commercial dog food, the harmful ingredients hidden behind marketing language, the disconnect between what is on the label and what is actually in the bag. It was all there.

And then I remembered Bulgaria. I remembered how our dogs ate. I remembered that they never got sick. The answer had been in front of me the whole time.

Get back to basics.

The Transformation

I changed her diet.
Every symptom disappeared.

I stopped listening to the advice to just switch kibble formulas. I took control of Nala’s health. I immersed myself in studying and researching proper canine nutrition, and everything I learned aligned perfectly with how the dogs I grew up with had lived their whole lives.

After making major changes to her diet and lifestyle, every single one of Nala’s symptoms disappeared and stayed away. The ear infections were gone. The skin issues cleared up. The weight came off. She had energy and joy again. Nala is now 10 years old and acting like a puppy.

Watching her transformation before my eyes, seeing what the right food can do for a dog’s body from the inside out, changed everything for me. I knew I had to help other dogs and other owners who were going through exactly what we had been through.

I went on to get certified as a canine nutritionist through the Feed Real Institute, an AASVB and RACE approved program. I now specialise in fresh and raw diet transitions for dogs with chronic symptoms, helping owners build personalised nutrition protocols based on their dog’s specific needs.

“I was determined to help other dogs thrive, not just survive.”
